Hiking trip across the Havel lakes around Potsdam

1. to 4.9.2022 (without arrival and departure day)

All participants were enthusiastic. Alan from St. Pauls, Minnesota, had the longest journey.
He came by plane.
Maria came by bicycle.

A report with many pictures will follow. The most important thing is to announce already now: Wolfgang will organize a trip again next year!

On this touring trip from September 1st to September 4th, 2022 (without arrival and departure), we experienced the Great Wannsee, the Little Wannsee, the Griebnitzer See and rowed past Potsdam to Lake Templin. Then we continued to Lake Petzinsee, through the picturesque Wentowgraben, an enchanted narrows, into Lake Schwielowsee, along the Havel to reach the island town of Werder. From there we rowed across the Great and Little Zernsee, further and further along the Havel to Deetz and back to Ketzin. From there we then went through the Sacrow-Paretzer Canal across the Jungfernsee northeast of Potsdam back to Lake Wannsee. On Sunday there was a spectacular trip across the Wannsee to Spandau on the program.

The total distance on all 4 days of rowing was almost 130 km.

A traditional land service – like on rivers – was not necessary, as the rowing participants were driven back to the hotel in Potsdam from the stage destinations in large taxis. Instead, an attractive sightseeing program was planned for everyone who was not rowing.A traditional land service – like on rivers – was not necessary, as the rowing participants were driven back to the hotel in Potsdam from the stage destinations in large taxis. Our hotel for the entire time was the Mercure Hotel Potsdam City (Lange Brücke, 14467 Potsdam). It is located directly on the Havelterrassen between the main train station (400 meters), the city palace and St. Nicholas Church.
