A new board was elected at the general meeting on 27 April 2024. Simone Emmelius (RC Mainz - Aurea Moguntia) was elected President of the Fellowship. She succeeds Hartmut Jaeger (RC Mainz), who founded the Fellowship in 2016. Maria Hafner-Althammer (RC Berlin-Lilienthal) is now Vice President.

Five Rotarians from Mainz, all members of our Fellowship, joined forces and the result was a new boat for the Mainz rowing club: A gig double three with coxswain (convertible to a double four) from the Schellenbacher boatyard in Linz. It is to be named ‘Fellowship’. A ‘Rotary’ boat already exists: a double four with helmsman, convertible to a double five.

A FISA referee from Ukraine, Viktoriia Maydachevska, had the idea. In order to maintain the emergency operation of rowing, she asked the DR whether German rowing clubs could provide decommissioned boat material or ergometers for Ukraine. The DRV published this request and in the end a trailer with 11 boats stood at the gates of the rowing club Amicitia in Mannheim. But material is not everything. Transport also has to be financed. The lacking amount was given by the International Fellowship of Rowing Rotarians (IfoRR) from the donations of the Rotary Venø donation tour organised last year The proceeds of which were also supposed to go to rowing in Ukraine. We were a bit sceptical about the timing. But the Ukrainians convinced us of the importance and significance of sport in a country affected by war.

Congratulations to Valer and Sorin! The two came third in their age category in the double sculls at the Romanian Championships from 03.04 to 04.06.2023.

Einladung zum Rudertreffen vom 30.06. bis 03.07.2023 in Konstanz. Mit dem Kirchboot auf dem Bodensee Unser Treffen soll besonders der internationalen Begegnung dienen. Der Bodensee ist dafür prädestiniert durch die Nähe zur Schweiz, zu Österreich, Italien – und Dänemark. Der Flug von Kopenhagen an den Bodensee dauert mit einem Stopp nicht länger als die Autofahrt von Mainz aus. Geplanter Ablauf Freitag, 30.06. Spätnachmittags Übernahme des Bootes, Einweisung und Verlegung an den Liegeplatz in Konstanz. (5 km) Samstag, 01.07. Konstanz – Radolfzell – Konstanz (38 km Untersee) Zwischenstopp auf der Insel Reichenau. Das Kloster Reichenau wurde von der UNESCO als Weltkulturerbe anerkannt. Sonntag, 02.07. Konstanz – Insel Mainau – Meersburg – Konstanz (24 km Obersee) Die „Blumeninsel“ Mainau ist im Besitz des schwedischen Königshauses Montag,03.07. Konstanz – Romanshorn – Konstanz (40 km Obersee) Das verstädterte Dorf Romanshorn ist im Inventar der schützenswerten Ortsbilder der Schweiz aufgeführt. Zu den wichtigsten und markantesten Baudenkmälern zählen die drei Kirchen. Für alle, die nicht rudern, wird ein Begleitprogramm angeboten. Unterkunft Anmeldungen erfolgen per Mail bei Hartmut.
