TOP 1 Welcome and determination of the quorum
Hartmut opens the General Assembly 2024 and welcomes the Rotarian friends. He is pleased about the great interest in this meeting. In particular, he welcomes Laslo as a new member from Hungary, who is joining us today from Venice. Unfortunately, some members are unable to attend today for professional reasons.
The Chairman noted that the invitation had been sent out on time and that the meeting was therefore quorate.
TOP 2 Report of the Executive Board
Five new members were admitted to the Fellowship last year. However, some members have also passed away. We think of them in a special way.
TOP 3 Report of the Treasurer
At the beginning of the year, the account still showed € 5,060.68. The current account balance is € 2,871.14. Membership fees totalling € 820 were recorded as income. The account fees totalled € 75.
In 2023, the Mainz Rowing Club donated a tent for use during sports competitions and regattas. The cost of the tent was €2,934.54. The Rotary logo can be seen on the side walls of the tent, making the Rotary message visible. The athletes from the Mainz rowing club were also supported because athletes from Ukraine are currently training there. The boathouse in Odessa was completely destroyed by a military attack.
In order to maintain the emergency rowing programme in Ukraine, a request was made to see if German rowing clubs could donate decommissioned boats or ergometers to Ukraine. The German Rowing Association publicised this request and in the end a trailer with 11 boats was parked at the gates of the Amicitia rowing club in Mannheim.
But material is not everything. Transport also needs to be financed. The International Fellowship of Rowing Rotarians (IfoRR) provided the missing amount from donations from the Rotary Venø donation tour organised last year, the proceeds of which were also intended to benefit rowing in Ukraine.
TOP 4 Discharge of the Executive Board
Friend Schell moved that the actions of the Board of Directors be approved. The discharge was granted unanimously, with the members of the Board of Directors abstaining.
TOP 5 Election of the Board of Directors for the Rotary years 2024/25 and 2025/26
In accordance with our Articles of Association, proposals for the election of a new Board of Directors must be submitted in writing to the Secretary of our Fellowship. Hartmut Jaeger presents the election proposal submitted with the invitation. In accordance with the Articles of Association, the election was also invited in good time.
He announces that he has held the office of President since the Fellowship was founded and that it is therefore time for a change. In accordance with § 4 paragraph 2 of our statutes, he proposes Simone Emmelius (RC Mainz-Aurea Moguntia) as President and Maria Hafner-Althammer (RC Berlin-Lilienthal) as the new Vice President.
The other board positions will continue to be held by the current board members. Our sincere thanks go to all of them for their willingness to get involved in our Fellowship.
Simone Emmelius is unanimously elected President with her own abstention
Maria Hafner-Althammer is unanimously elected Vice President with one abstention.
Stephan Hölz is unanimously elected as Secretary with one abstention.
Wolfgang Tenhaef is unanimously elected Treasurer with one abstention.
Wolfgang Litzenburger is unanimously elected as coordinator with one abstention.
The new Board would like to thank the members for the trust they have placed in it.
TOP 6 Miscellaneous
The Fellowship is organising a rowing tour in south-east Berlin from 5 to 9 June. This area is also known as the Amazon of Brandenburg. During the tour, participants will stay at the Hotel Waldhaus in Prieros. The tours will take place in a star pattern on the canals and lakes in the area. B-gig boats with wooden skeletons are expected to be used. Three double fours can be hired from the Königs Wusterhausen rowing club.
Another hiking tour on Lake Constance is planned for next October. Interest in taking part will initially be enquired about via a WhatsApp group.
TOP 7 RI Bylaws for Fellowships
Hartmut Jaeger, Chairman of the Rowing Fellowship, has received a letter from Rotary International. In it, the future growth strategy was explained and it was pointed out in particular that, in principle, someone who is not a member of a Rotary club can also become a member of a Fellowship.
Hartmut Jaeger wishes everyone a good time and looks forward to future meetings and closes the general meeting
